About Brittny Alys

"Più Sale!" (pyoo sal-eh) This is what my boyfriend said the first time I made him pasta, which means "more salt"!  Americanas obviously know nothing about how to cook pasta the Italian way.

I am originally from Portland, Oregon, in the United States, and moved to Italy in 2013.  Growing up in the city I have always admired people who live in the country and have easy access to fresh produce all of the time.  I can now walk down the street to a vegetable and fruit stand that I am certain the food is locally grown in a nearby garden. I promote cooking with fresh produce and ingredients as this truly makes a difference when making a risotto, soup or a simple salad dressing.

My boyfriend is Italian, which obviously brought me here, we met in a small Italian restaurant in the city of Portland over a glass of his company's red wine. He later invited me to join him for a summer holiday in Tuscany and the rest is history. We live together here in La California, which is a small country town in Tuscany located on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Italians clearly know their way around the kitchen, so I knew I had big shoes to fill.  I am constantly learning, tasting, reading and indulging.  I love Italian cuisine not only because it is delizioso, but because all recipes are made from simple and few ingredients.  It’s all about the process and quality.

We both love to travel and are fortunate enough to be able to make frequent trips around Europe and the United States and hopefully to other continets in the future. In this blog you will find recipes, posts of my travels and things I have learned while living in Tuscany. I absolutely love to learn about different cultures and the way they celebrate life, love and food. I take all of my own photos and I am always snapping shots of my surroundings.  I hope to share my passions with you as you read my recipes and try them for yourself while enjoying a piece of Italy along the way.

Benvenuti
